The reason I post funny videos on my roundup is because I’m always seeing them and they make me laugh. So naturally I want you to laugh, too.
***I’m just going to warn you now that I’m a Star Wars fan. The closer we get to December 18th, the more likely Star Wars is going to show up on here. It’s just the way it’s going to be, my friends.***
Since The Force Awakens hits theaters in only two months, here’s a hilarious throwback to the original Star Wars Episode IV end scene WITHOUT the epic anthem by John Williams. It’s worth watching just for Chewie.

It’s difficult to see the long-term benefits of teaching your children about money in the moment. That’s why I love the post Ruth published at Fruclassity this week called 16-Years-Old and Saving? What’s the Why? She shares about how her 16-year-old daughter received her first paycheck. For years, they’ve taught her to think ahead and save, even though her friends may not. Now she’s saving toward a once in a lifetime opportunity that’s a whopping 18 months away. Talk about discipline!
I discovered a great post from Gary at Super Saving Tips called 8 Money Mistakes That Can Ruin Your Finances. I have seriously. Made. All of these. Mistakes. ::sigh:: Some of them are common sense, but some of them happen because people just aren’t aware of the correct information (i.e. adjusting your W-4). Tips like these go a long way on the road to financial freedom.
Props to my fellow blogger mom, Audra at Real Honest Mom, for teaching her two boys the art of doing the dishes. Hallelujah! Let’s give mom a break in the kitchen, kids! In her post The School of Mom – Dishes, Audra teaches her sons how to load the dishwasher, offering a reward for each child once the task is completed. The reward in this example isn’t cash, but the principle is the same if you wanted to do that. Now they know a life skill and that mom and dad shouldn’t have to do all the work. ::fist bump::
Doesn’t it seem like food is one of the biggest expenses every month? Especially REAL food? Errrrg. Laura from Heavenly Homemakers created a mouthwatering post this week called 5 Real Food Dinners for About $1.00 Each. It’s all good food that would fill you up. Not something like “lemon rinds and raisin skins” (to quote my favorite comedian, Brian Regan).
Luke over at Financial Fitz wrote a compelling post about marriage & money called Just Be Careful Not to Get Divorced. In his post, this statement stood out to me, “Personal finance should be used as a tool to enhance our marriages.” So often it’s viewed as something couples must endure or as an automatic problem. There is actually a huge opportunity for couples to grow closer as they learn to talk about money together. We’re walking through that every day.

I can’t exactly call myself a Star Wars fan…I did see the original movie back in the 70’s, but haven’t seen any of the others. Still, it’s fascinating how different a film is without the score! Happy to share, Revanche! Yes, there are many other things I proudly watch or read that still fit into the geek category (Lord of the Rings, Star Trek, Marvel), but then I swing the opposite direction occasionally and pick up a Jane Austen novel too. There’s something epic in every genre.
